Cartoon from issue 1 of Palatinate
Forged out of Palatinate's vibrant alumni community, the Alumni Association seeks to nurture Durham's budding journalists while ensuring strong ties remain between those who have since left the university.
The group's work follows the central objectives outlined on this website and, as such, aims to have a positive effect on all who engage with it. From current Editorial Board members to those at the very top of the industry, everyone is able to take part.
It is led by a committee comprising Palatinate alumni, the newspaper's Editors-in-Chief and its Alumni Officer. This meets once a term to discuss events, administrative matters and how best to grow the association. The general minutes from these will be published here.
Coming from the student newspaper that launched the remarkable careers of Sir Harry Evans, George Alagiah, Hunter Davies and Jeremy Vine (among so many others), we fiercely believe in the vital contribution journalism makes to society. There are few better ways to act on this conviction than by helping the next generation to prosper and reach its true potential.
